The Danielle Collins Face Yoga Method is a natural way of looking and feeling younger and healthier with an added sense of relaxation and wellbeing. It is a combination of face exercises, face massage, face acupressure and face relaxation. It also focuses on wellbeing techniques for the mind, body, and soul.
Find out why Face yoga is such a good way to help you look and feel your best naturally!
FIVE REASONS TO TRY FACE YOGA
1. Exercise: Your facial muscles need regular exercise to stay toned and firm, just like your body does. The 57 muscles in the face and neck also need to be exercised. As they become stronger through exercise they are lifted and firmed and the skin attached to the muscles is also lifted and tautened, therefore reducing lines and wrinkles. As the muscles are much smaller than those in the body, it takes a lot less time for them to increase in strength and tone.
Doing some of the exercises may make you feel ridiculous!! But there are so many techniques. Exercises to lift and tone the muscles. Massage techniques to smooth expression lines, assist lymphatic drainage, reduce puffiness, and removal of waste products. Acupressure and breathing techniques to help relaxation and reduce stress. There’re even techniques to stimulate the scalp to help maintain healthy hair. And much more!
This pug is doing an age-old yoga pose, ‘The Lion Face.’ She doesn’t know it but she’s stretching and relaxing all the muscles in her face, bringing fresh blood flow, oxygen and nutrients to her skin and will look and feel refreshed after! To do this pose and to get the benefits you first inhale, and then constrict all the muscles in your face. Then, open your mouth wide, and push your tongue out and down and breathe out slowly. Yep, you look completely ridiculous! But you’ll be glowing and feel a little revitalised after.
2. You can naturally relax and reduce habitual expression lines that took you years to create!
Regular Face Yoga practice addresses tightness, and tension in the muscles of the face, using both face exercises and massage.
Tightness in the jaw, and cheeks (that we may not be aware of), as well as loss of muscle tone; can add to a downturned mouth and marionette lines. By toning the muscles through specific exercises, we can improve the volume of the cheeks, regaining a natural plumpness. Face Yoga exercises, such as, The Lip Tuck, (see below), can help to increase muscle tone in the cheeks (lifting jowls and corners of the mouth), and reduce the appearance of smile and marionette lines.
And by incorporating regular facial massage, you will increase circulation, lymph flow and remove waste products. There is even one for massaging the inside of the cheeks, known as the Cheek Refresher. This also helps to reduce the appearance of marionette lines ( lines at the corners of the mouth) and the nasolabial lines.
3. Studies show you could look younger with regular and consistent practice without using any expensive creams, or potions.
One of the most recent and most significant studies was carried out in January 2018 by Northwestern University in the USA. Participants did 30 minutes of Face Yoga, the majority of which were facial exercises, for 20 weeks and were assessed by a team of skin and medical professionals. For those that did it daily, it showed improvements in 18 of 20 facial features measured, with improvements to both mid-face and lower face fullness.

The Danielle Collins Face Yoga Method was part of a study done by the BBC. A doctor was shown how to do an upper face workout, a lower face workout and 10 minutes of Facelift massage. He did this daily for 30 minutes for 20 weeks. At the end of the study, the doctor was proven to look 1 year YOUNGER after 20 weeks. See the results for yourself by clicking the link below.
4. Frown Lines: If you find you look angry when you're not, you may have frown lines also called number 11 lines between the brows. You could reduce number 11 lines learning simple massage techniques that take less than a minute to do. They won’t reduce overnight, as you spent years repeating the same eyebrow movements. However, using your index fingers, to gently sweep upwards from in-between the eyebrows, alternating each hand (hand over hand), can help to relax the procerus muscle. That’s the muscle responsible for this angry expression.
5. Face Yoga for life. When you’re younger its preventative measure and means you’re less likely to see signs of aging and tension on the face. The Danielle Collins Face Yoga method has been designed for use from the age of 18. When we’re older it can help to reduce fine lines, plump and smooth skin, improve muscle tone, giving more structure to the face, and reduce puffiness from stagnation and tightness. As the female hormone oestrogen depletes, this has a negative effect on our muscles, collagen, and elastin. Its never too late to boost circulation, to relax a stress wrinkle, to strengthen and tone a muscle or boost lymphatic drainage. We can all benefit from relaxing the mind, having a healthy, relaxed body, and integrating wellbeing techniques in our life.
